  7. We recommend leaving the default User Name as admin and selecting a password that is distinct from the password for your WiFi network.
  8. From the drop-down menus, choose and answer two security questions.
  9. If you forget your extender's admin credentials, use these questions to recover them.
  10. NEXT should be clicked or tapped.
  11. If your extender asks if you want to use the NETGEAR Genie, select YES or CONTINUE.
  12. Your extender looks for nearby WiFi networks.
  13. Select the radio buttons for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi Network Names for your network (SSID).
  14. If your networks aren't visible, click or tap See More.
  15. NEXT should be clicked or tapped.
  16. Enter the password for your current network and then click or tap NEXT.
  17. Choose your extender's SSIDs and passwords.
  18. By default, the extender uses the name of your existing network, with _2GEXT appended to the end for the 2.4GHz band and _5GEXT appended to the end for the 5GHz band. By default, the password for each band is the same as the password for your current network.
  19. (Optional) You can use the same WiFi name and password for mesh extenders as you do for your existing network. If your extender supports it, check the Enable One WiFi Name box to enable this feature.
  20. This enables your extender to use the same WiFi network name (SSID) and password as your current WiFi network.
  21. NEXT should be clicked or tapped.
  22. Your settings are applied by the extender. This may take some time.
  23. The WiFi network name (SSID) and password for each of your extender's bands are displayed. Keep these in mind.
  24. Go to the WiFi settings on a device that will be connected to the extender network and connect to the extender's new network.
  25. Return to your web browser, check the box at the bottom of the page and then click or tap CONTINUE.
  26. Your extender is now extending the coverage of your network.
